Background of the Study
Rural electrification is essential for socio-economic development, improving quality of life, and promoting industrialization. In Sokoto North Local Government Area (LGA), Sokoto State, governmental accounting plays a critical role in the planning, financing, and execution of rural electrification projects. Effective accounting ensures that allocated funds are used transparently and efficiently. However, many rural electrification projects in Sokoto North LGA suffer from delays and substandard execution due to financial mismanagement and lack of accountability. This study assesses the impact of governmental accounting practices on the success of rural electrification projects.
Statement of the Problem
Despite substantial investments in rural electrification, many communities in Sokoto North LGA remain underserved. Ineffective governmental accounting practices often lead to fund mismanagement, project delays, and failure to meet electrification targets. This study examines the role of governmental accounting in addressing these challenges.

3. H₀: Improved accounting practices do not significantly enhance rural electrification in Sokoto North LGA.

Scope and Limitation of the Study
